Mindful Clay — an online pottery course for beginners
The first Mindful Clay course is on its way: a self-paced online course in simple handbuilding, with ideas from psychology folded into every project. Learn pottery at home, no wheel needed. It’s being made carefully, which means slowly. If you’d like to know the moment it opens, leave your email below.
Tell me when it opensWhat it’s shaping up to be
- Online and self-paced. Done at home, at any old table, in your own time, with nobody watching you make a wonky rim.
- Beginner-friendly handbuilding. Pinch, coil and slab — the techniques that need the least gear and forgive the most mistakes.
- One idea per project. Each piece you make carries a psychology-informed idea — attention, perfectionism, self-criticism, curiosity, slowing down — that you notice with your hands rather than read about.
- Process over outcome. You’ll still end up with things to put on a shelf. They just won’t be the point.
- Made for overthinkers. Designed with an understanding of how perfectionism and self-criticism actually behave when you try something new.
Also coming: Clay Reset
A much shorter recorded session for when you’ve got an hour, a lump of clay and a head full of noise. Same email list, same promise: one message when it’s ready.
What I can’t tell you yet
The module list, the price and the launch date aren’t set yet, because the course is still being developed. I’d rather not make them up and then quietly change them. When they’re real, they’ll be here.
What I can tell you is who it’s for: people who think too much, people who’d like to slow down and find it weirdly difficult, perfectionists in recovery, and anyone who has ever been too intimidated to walk into a pottery class.
slow is fine. slow is sort of the point.
One email. When it’s ready. That’s it.
No daily inspiration. No countdown sequence. No “last chance” emails. Just a note when the course opens, and one when Clay Reset does.

Clay doesn’t need to wait for a course.
